The Siamese cat is the true embodiment of elegance, grace and indestructible character. It immediately stands out among the others: incredibly bright blue eyes, chiseled figure, contrasting coloring and proud posture. Siamese always attract attention – as if created to be in the center of attention.
The roots of this breed go back to Thailand, where Siamese cats were considered sacred and allowed to keep only in temples or royal families. In Europe they appeared in the late XIX century and immediately became champions of exhibitions. A typical Siamese has a medium size, long, flexible body, slender legs, long tail and elongated face with large pointed ears. The weight of an adult Siamese cat usually ranges from 2.5 to 5 kilograms, and the length of the body strikes a harmony of proportions.
This is an extremely sociable and intelligent breed. Siamese cats become attached to a person like dogs – they choose “their own” and are always near. They like to be in the center of events, actively participate in family life and have a very expressive voice. They are not shy to ask for attention, can show jealousy and get bored in loneliness. Especially the Siamese kitten. At the same time – very intelligent, easily trained, able to open doors or respond to intonations. They have a strong but sensitive character – they need a delicate approach and sincere love.
Despite its short coat, the Siamese cat needs regular grooming. Their skin is thin, and although their coat is not prone to tangles, it can lose its luster if not properly cleaned. This breed is also prone to discharge from the eyes and ears, so hygiene procedures are a must. At V.O.G DOG SALON our groomers take proper care of Siamese cats: gentle combing, skin cleansing, professional cosmetics and an atmosphere of calmness make the procedures a pleasant experience for the Pet. After grooming, the coat looks even more silky, the eyes shine and the cat feels confident and at ease.
🛁 Bathing (gently cleansing the coat):
Although the Siamese's coat is short, it accumulates skin grease, dust and external impurities. Bathing is carried out using hypoallergenic professional cosmetics, which gently cleanses the skin, does not dry it out and emphasizes the natural shine of the coat. The water is at a comfortable temperature, without pressure, and the procedure itself is carried out at a calm rhythm to avoid stress.
🧴Balm or conditioner:
After bathing, a special lightweight conditioner without weighing it down is applied. It closes the scales of the coat, makes it smooth, protects the skin from drying out and prevents dandruff. Siamese have particularly sensitive skin - so the balm plays an important role in maintaining balance.
🧽Eye Wipe:
Siamese cats sometimes experience mild tear production, especially in the morning. Cleaning is done with sterile wipes or cotton pads with a special safe lotion. This removes dirt from the corners of the eyes and reduces the risk of irritation or crusting.
👂Ear cleaning:
Siamese ears are large and open, so they quickly accumulate dust. Cleaning is done very carefully - only the outer part of the ear, using a mild product. It is important not to damage the delicate mucosa and not to go deep - so everything is done only superficially, but regularly.
🐾Treatment of paw pads and claws:
The paw pads are cleaned of dust, sand, moisture and possible filler residue. If the pads are dry, a light moisturizing balm is applied. The claws are also checked: if they are too long, they are carefully trimmed to a safe length.
💨Drying (manual or boxed):
Siamese cats do not like loud noises - so for drying we use either a very quiet hair dryer with a pleasant blowing, special microfiber towels that absorb moisture well or special boxes, where in peace and quiet kitties enjoy pleasant air baths. The wool does not bunch up, is not over-dried and leaves a natural structure.
🧼Antistatic treatment:
Siamese's short coat can become electrified, especially in dry air. After drying, a light anti-static spray is applied - it reduces electrification, keeps the coat smooth and makes it pleasant to touch for both cat and owner.
🧹Brushing:
Although Siamese have a short coat, regular combing is essential to remove dead hairs and stimulate the skin. We use delicate combs that do not traumatize the skin, but only gently "polish" the coat. This procedure brings pleasure to the animal and creates a glossy finish.
🧴Moisturizing or protective mask (if necessary):
In case of dry skin or flaking, we can apply a mask - it is a special product containing oils and vitamins that deeply nourish the skin. It gives the coat a special silky shine and the skin regains its natural balance.
No, a haircut is not necessary or even recommended for Siamese. They have short, smooth hair with no undercoat, and the main thing is to wash, moisturize and comb them properly.
Optimally - once every 1.5-2 months. If the cat lives in an active home environment or has a tendency to greasy hair - more often.
Uh, sure. We have 100% of Siamese cats undergo the complex without sedation. A calm atmosphere and the right approach - and the cat behaves perfectly.
Eye color in Siamese can change depending on the light. But if there is tearing or redness, it is better to come for eye hygiene.
We strongly request that you come with a carrier. This ensures your Pet's safety and minimizes the stress of transportation.
Yes, even short-haired cats shed. And that's normal. Regular combing and bathing with a quality shampoo can help reduce the amount of hair at home.
Yes, this is a common reaction - cats lick themselves after any grooming. If he washes his paws calmly, without anxiety, everything is fine.
No, it's better to entrust ear cleaning to us. Improper cleaning at home can damage the ear canal or push the wax deeper.
Do not feed 2 hours before the procedure, avoid playing just before the visit - it is better for the cat to arrive in a calm state.
We recommend that you come in for at least an introductory procedure or eye hygiene. Often after the first visit the fear disappears - the main thing is that the atmosphere is right. And we can ask the owner to stay for the treatment to make the Ponytail feel more comfortable.
