With their thick, silky coat, flattened muzzle, and look of calm and dignity, Persian cats win hearts at first sight. The weight of an adult Persian usually ranges from 3.5-7 kg, and the body length reaches up to 60 cm. These are strong, stocky cats with short legs and a rounded head that look soft and fluffy even in adulthood.
Persian cats originated in Persia (modern Iran), from where they were brought to Europe in the 17th century. They immediately became favorites of the nobility: they were kept in palaces, shown on catwalks, and considered a symbol of luxury. Over the years, the breed was improved by breeders in the UK and the USA, and it was then that modern features appeared: a flattened muzzle, a wide chest, and even longer hair.
Persians are calm, affectionate, and balanced. They are not prone to hyperactivity, do not like heights and adventures, so they feel great even in a small apartment. They quickly become attached to their owners, are patient with children, and can get along with other animals. It is a quiet breed that rarely meows but always requires tenderness and attention.
Types of Persian cats
Today, there are many variations of Persian cats: in color (monochromatic, tabby, chinchilla, Himalayan with color point), as well as in the shape of the muzzle – traditional Persians with a more “classic” profile and extreme ones with a pronounced flat muzzle. Separately, there are exotic short-haired Persians, which have the same body structure but shorter hair that is easier to care for.
Grooming and care needs of the breed
The main feature of Persians is their long, thick coat. Without daily brushing, it falls into tangles, and irritation, itching, and even fungal infections can develop under it. Therefore, regular professional grooming of Persian cats is not a luxury but a vital necessity. In addition, Persian’s coat has a special texture, and it cannot be treated with any means – only delicate cosmetics and the right tools will help preserve its beauty.
Another feature is the tendency to lacrimation due to the anatomical structure of the muzzle. The area around the eyes should be cleaned daily. It is also worth keeping the ears and claws clean and accustoming it to bathing, because even the best brushing is no substitute for a good wash.

Our masters have experience working with this particular demanding breed. We take into account anatomical features, use professional cosmetics, and select the perfect type of haircut for Persian cats – from hygienic to stylish lion cub. Everything is done with love and without stress. With us, your cat will look and feel his best.
Claw trimming:
The laid-back nature of Persians and low physical activity lead to nails that do not grind down naturally but grow excessively fast. If they are not trimmed regularly, it can cause pain when walking, the risk of ingrowth, or scratches on their own skin. Our groomers perform this procedure with the utmost care - without stress and pain, using professional tools and antiseptics.
Model Persian haircut or complete combing from tangles:
The coat of the Persian is its main decoration, but also its main problem. Due to the density of the undercoat and the thinness of the hair, the coat easily rolls into tangles even with daily brushing at home. If left untreated, it causes pain, irritation, fungus, and skin inflammation. We offer two options: a deep professional combing with detailed detangling or a model haircut that makes your cat look neat and attractive and makes home care much easier. We absolutely do not recommend clipping cats, especially Persian cats, but sometimes, especially large tangles, cannot be combed out. For cats with large tangles, we can offer a lion haircut or hygienic shaving in hard-to-reach places, depending on the condition of the coat and the recommendations of the groomer.
Bathing and drying:
Bathing a Persian cat is a process that has its own subtleties. Due to the high density of the coat, water takes a long time to penetrate, so it is important to completely wash away the remnants of grease, dust, and dirt from the skin. We use shampoos with natural ingredients, without silicones and aggressive surfactants, which are suitable for long-haired breeds. After bathing, we carry out step-by-step drying with a professional hair dryer with a diffuser, combining it with gentle combing to prevent the coat from getting tangled. Persians are very sensitive to drafts and temperature changes, so everything happens in a closed, warm box without noise and unnecessary stress.
Cleaning the ears:
The structure of the ear canal of Persians contributes to the accumulation of sulfur and dust, which can lead to infections without proper cleaning. We gently clean the outer part of the ear with special lotions without penetrating deeply and causing discomfort to the cat. Everything happens slowly, with interruptions if the animal is nervous - Persians are very sensitive to interference, so we act only within the permissible level of contact.
Cleaning the eyes:
The flat muzzle, characteristic of most Persians, causes regular tearing - especially in light or color-point animals. Without proper care, dark spots form under the eyes, the coat becomes yellowish, and in the worst cases, inflammation occurs. We use sterile wipes and mild products that do not sting the eyes and have an antibacterial effect. All this helps to keep your cat's eyes clean and its face neat and healthy.
Application of cat perfume (optional):
For those who want to add the finishing touch, we offer a gentle perfume that is hypoallergenic, alcohol-free, and harsh. The perfume was created specifically for cats; it does not block the animal's natural scent and does not irritate the Persian's sensitive sense of smell. The light scent lasts for several days without causing nervousness even in the most demanding cats.
We recommend professional care at least once every 1.5-2 months. This will help to avoid tangles, watery eyes, unpleasant odor, and skin problems.
Yes. Even with regular home care, Persian's coat tends to shed, especially in the abdomen, groin, and under the paws. A hygienic haircut makes it much easier to care for and live with the cat.
We use delicate techniques and tools, but if the tangles are large and dense, we sometimes have to cut them off to avoid pain. Our priority is the animal's comfort, even if it takes longer.
Yes, if it's done by professionals. At home, improperly selected cosmetics or an overheated hair dryer can be harmful. In the salon, we take into account the density of the coat, the water temperature, the level of drying - everything to the smallest detail.
This is an anatomical feature. Persian cats have shortened nasal canals, which causes tearing. It requires daily care and periodic professional cleaning of the eye area.
Persians are very sensitive to stress, so we create the most calm environment for them: without unnecessary sounds, with a warm box, gentle communication, and pauses during procedures.
In such cases, we use an "anti-stress" approach: we carry out procedures more slowly, with breaks, without coercion, and sometimes divide the visit into two stages. Our groomers know how to find an approach to even the most shy Persians. And for drying shy Persians, we have special silent boxes
