The joyful day has finally arrived! You’ve decided to expand your family by bringing a puppy into your home. Congratulations! However, before this little miracle steps into your house, you need to prepare.

Preparing for the Puppy’s Arrival

Puppies are curious and love to explore everything around them. They’re like little children, pulling and tasting everything. Here are some tips to help you prepare for this much-anticipated meeting:

  1. Check Your Home: Walk around your home and make sure there are no dangerous objects at “dog nose” level. This might include wires, small objects that can be swallowed, toxic plants, and chemicals.
  2. Find a Place for the Puppy: It should be warm, safe, and comfortable. You may need to set up a “baby gate” to restrict the puppy’s access to certain parts of the house.
  3. Essentials for Comfort and Happiness: Make sure your little Fido feels comfortable and happy in the new house by purchasing all necessary items in advance: • Bed: Choose a comfortable bed for the puppy to rest after its adventures. • Bowls for Food and Water: Choose low bowls that won’t tip over and are easy to clean. • Food: Select high-quality food that matches the age, breed, and size of the dog. Consult a veterinarian if there are specific allergies and ask for assistance in choosing the right food. • Toys: Buy teething toys, brain-stimulating toys, and spend time playing together. • Collar or Harness, Leash or Retractable Leash, Identification Tag: All of these will help secure your walks. • Hygiene Products: Puppy shampoo and conditioner, eye-cleaning lotion, toothpaste and brush, combs for fur, disposable diapers, and poop bags are essential for grooming.
  4. Create a Schedule: Puppies adapt better with a stable schedule. They should be fed, walked, and put to sleep at approximately the same time every day.
  5. Find a Trusted Veterinarian: Establish a relationship with a good veterinarian even before bringing the puppy home.
