In the modern world, the profession of groomer is gaining more and more popularity, but in Ukraine it has not yet received official recognition at the state level as a specialty that can be studied at universities or colleges. This means that there are no standardized government programs or courses that would prepare specialists in this field from scratch to full qualification with a diploma or certificate of a recognized model.

However, this does not mean that the grooming profession is not recognized or valued at other levels. On the contrary, this profession is very widely recognized:

  • Pet owners who want to provide the best care for their pets.
  • Companies and brands that produce specialized shampoos, conditioners, clippers and other practical countless grooming products.
  • Salons that provide grooming services and are always looking for qualified masters.
  • Online platforms and social networks where professionals can share their experience, conduct workshops and training courses.
  • Organizers of exhibitions and competitions for pets, where grooming is one of the main components of success.

Alternative ways of learning

The lack of state accreditation does not stop enthusiasts who want to master this profession. There are many private schools, courses and workshops on the market that offer quality grooming education. These programs may include:

  • Theoretical classes where students learn animal anatomy, the basics of dermatology, hygiene and safety rules.
  • Practical classes during which students acquire the skills of haircuts, bathing, cleaning ears and claws under the supervision of experienced masters.
  • Master classes from famous groomers who share their secrets of mastery and the latest trends in the industry.

Thus, despite the lack of official recognition at the state level, the grooming profession in Ukraine is developing and thriving thanks to the initiatives of the private sector and the enthusiasm of those who seek to learn and improve in this field.

Development of grooming in Ukraine: V.O.G DOG Academy

In response to the growing demand for qualified professionals in the field of grooming, our V.O.G DOG team decided to go beyond the usual courses or schools, opening a whole academy – V.O.G DOG Academy. We have created a unique learning environment where everyone can not only learn the basics of grooming, but also learn the profession from scratch, choosing the course that best suits their needs and goals. We have as many as 3 branches in the city of Kyiv.

V.O.G DOG Academy offers a variety of training programs, each of which is designed taking into account the specifics of the groomer’s work and current market needs. Our training is divided into 4 different types of approach:

  1. Intensive is a quick start in the profession for those who want to start their career as a groomer as soon as possible. The program lasts 6 days and includes 48 hours of intensive training.
  2. Professional – the course is designed for those who seek to gain in-depth academic knowledge in grooming. The duration of the course is 8 days, during which students complete 64 hours of study.
  3. Master – this course not only provides knowledge and practical skills, but also helps with employment. The program lasts 10 days (80 hours) and includes comprehensive training and job search support.
  4. V.I.P – individual training with a teacher, which lasts 10 days (80 hours) and offers a personalized approach to each student.

Each course covers a different aspect of grooming, from the basics of working with different types of fur, tools, cosmetics and equipment, to animal psychology and groomer safety. Students have the opportunity to study in depth the peculiarities of caring for popular breeds of dogs and cats.

The cost of training at V.O.G DOG Academy

Course prices vary depending on the selected program and the scope of services provided. Yes, the “Intensive” course costs 17,000 UAH, “Professional” – 22,000 UAH, “Master” – 24,000 UAH, and individual training “V.I.P” – 42,000 UAH. Each tariff package includes a free internship under the supervision of a master, an author’s certificate of course completion, access to a closed chat for graduates and teachers, as well as additional benefits depending on the selected package, such as an international author’s certificate, free accommodation and employment assistance.
